The narrow gate

A broad way is easy. You don't have to think, you just go along with the crowd. A narrow gate asks for a conscious choice. Strait here means narrow.

In Luke's version there is a strong word: strive to enter in. In Greek it is the word our word agony comes from. Following isn't automatic. It takes commitment and choices.

Question for today

Where am I going along with the crowd, when I should make my own choice?

Prayer

Lord, help me to choose the narrow gate, even when the wide one is easier. Give me the courage to choose differently. Amen.
