Do you want to get well?

A strange question
By the pool of Bethesda in Jerusalem, whose remains archaeologists have excavated, lay a man who had been ill for thirty-eight years. Jesus asked him whether he wanted to be made whole.
That seems an unnecessary question. But the man didn't answer it. He gave a reason why it wasn't working: Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool. Sometimes it is easier to get used to your situation than to change.
Question for today
Do I really want to change, or have I got used to things?
Prayer
Lord, you ask whether I want to be made whole. Yes, Lord. Help me past my excuses. Stand by me as I get up. Amen.
