Let not your heart be troubled

It is the last evening. Jesus has just said he is going away, that one of them will betray him and that Peter will deny him. The atmosphere is tense.

And then this. Don't let your heart be troubled. The Greek word means stirred up, like water that has been churned. Jesus knows there are reasons enough for unrest. Still he invites them to trust.

Question for today

What is stirring up my heart today?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, my heart is sometimes like stirred-up water. Make it still. I believe in God, and I believe in you. Amen.
