A heavy heart

After all his words about the future, Jesus ends in Luke with something very ordinary. Watch your heart. That it doesn't become heavy. Surfeiting means overindulging.

Jesus puts the cares of this life next to feasting and drinking. All things that can make your heart heavy and drowsy. The danger isn't the great disasters, but the daily ballast.

Question for today

What is making my heart heavy?

Prayer

Lord, you see the worries that weigh my heart down. Take them from me, and keep me light and awake. Amen.
