Leading by serving
Jesus points to the rulers of his day. They exercise power over their people and make them feel it. It shall not be so among you, he says. Minister here means servant.
For Jesus, leadership is service. The greatest is the one who does the most for others. It is one of the most radical ideas in his teaching, and it has shaped thinking about leadership to this day.
