Blessed are those who mourn
It sounds contradictory. Blessed are the grieving? Jesus doesn't say grief is good. He says that those who mourn are not forgotten.
Mourning is also being honest about what is wrong. About loss, injustice, your own failure. Whoever doesn't bury that makes room for comfort. Whoever never mourns doesn't notice being comforted either.
Question for today
What grief may I let in today, instead of pushing it away?
Prayer
Lord, you see my grief. I won't hide it any more. Comfort me, as you promise. Amen.
