Peacemakers
The King James gets it exactly right: the Greek word doesn't mean peaceful people, but peacemakers. Someone who actively makes peace. That is different from avoiding conflict.
In Jesus' day the Roman emperor also called himself son of god and bringer of peace. His peace came with legions. Jesus says God's children bring peace in a different way: without the sword.
