Under the fig tree

Philip told Nathanael they had found the Messiah: Jesus of Nazareth. Nathanael was sceptical. Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Still, he went along.

Jesus called him an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile. An honest sceptic. Then he said he had already seen him under the fig tree. What happened there we don't know. Nathanael did. He felt seen, and that changed everything.
