Smyrna: faithful to the end

The church in Smyrna was poor, but Christ calls it rich. He warns of tribulation and gives this promise.

Around the year 155 Polycarp, the bishop of Smyrna, was burned at the stake as an old man. He was asked to curse Christ. According to the account he said: eighty-six years I have served him, and he has done me no wrong. How can I blaspheme my King who saved me?

Question for today

Where is faithfulness asking something of me now?

Prayer

Lord, make me faithful, in small things and great, to the end. Amen.
