Where it begins

Here too Jesus goes a layer deeper than the law. It isn't only the act that counts, but the look that comes before it.

It is a high bar. But it also protects. For Jesus a woman isn't an object to look at, but a person with her own dignity. Faithfulness doesn't begin in the bedroom, but in your eyes and your thoughts.

Question for today

How do I look at other people?

Prayer

Lord, make my gaze pure. Teach me to see people as you see them, with respect and love. Amen.
