God with us, to the end
The Gospel of Matthew begins with a name: Emmanuel, which means God with us. And it ends with the last words of Jesus: I am with you alway.
The whole book stands between those two promises. Alway means ordinary days too. Mondays, tired evenings, the days when you feel nothing special. He is there then as well.
Question for today
On which ordinary day do I forget that he is there?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, you are with me, today as well. Even when I don't feel it. Let me carry that promise with me through this day. Amen.
