No bone of the Passover lamb may be broken. God keeps the righteous: not one of his bones is broken.
The soldiers break the legs of the two others to hasten death, but Jesus has already died. John links this to the Passover lamb. According to John, Jesus dies at the moment the Passover lambs are being slaughtered in the temple.
